Celebration Company artwork will be on display at VillageMD clinics nationwide
Celebration Company, located on the Jewish Family Service Houston campus on South Braeswood Boulevard, is a nonprofit organization committed to providing social and life skills and meaningful employment to people with disabilities. VillageMD, a healthcare organization, is focused on transforming the delivery of primary care across the country.
Dr. Clive Fields, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of VillageMD, unveiled the new art program at Village Medical at Walgreens, located at 7929 Kirby Dr. Future Village Medical across the country will feature artwork from Celebration Company in reception areas, corridors and consultation and examination rooms.
Village Medical currently provides comprehensive primary patient care in 22 markets across the United States
“It is a great honor and pleasure to now see this new work of art at Village Medical,” said Dr. Fields. “Celebration Company’s commitment to a positive and supportive environment and employment for these talented individuals brings me great joy. The partnership with Celebration Company underscores Village Medical’s ongoing commitment to caring for the whole person – we care about you as a patient, your health, your mental health and the community in which you live.
In this new collaboration, Village Medical will license approximately 20-25 pieces from Celebration Company to be displayed in their new primary care practices across the United States. Each work is accompanied by the artists’ biography, which also describes their artistic passion. The walls of Village Medical will not only be enhanced by the artwork, but patients and staff will learn more about the artists and their stories.
This collaboration with Village Medical will allow Celebration Company to continue to develop its renowned professional skills and employment model in the Greater Houston area.
“We salute VillageMD for its commitment to supporting our community by providing work and income to people who are often undervalued in the workforce,” said Carl E. Josehart, CEO of JFS Houston. “When you have the opportunity to visit a doctor’s office in the Village, you will see that they have chosen professional quality artwork to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their patients. This partnership shows how they take care of their patients and they have a positive impact by creating a more inclusive community.

Celebration Company’s Center for Art & Photography is both a physical showroom for displaying artists’ art and products and an online portal for sales with information about each artist. Businesses that feature Celebration Company art and photography not only enjoy the beauty of art, but also have the added benefit of supporting a business that empowers artists with disabilities to work, learn, and grow to achieve their full potential.
One of the Celebration Company artists, Ian Spindler, whose work will be on display, reacted to the news of the partnership: “This is something new. It’s really, really special. It makes me very happy. It’s shocking and very exciting!
At the unveiling, Karen Edelman, Director of Volunteerism and Community Relations at VillageMD, warmly welcomed the artists and their family members who gathered to tour the clinic, view their artwork on display and meet the doctors who work there.
The Celebration Company artists were visibly happy and excited to see their work professionally presented. Even cookies, with colorful images of the artwork, added to the festivities.
In describing the importance of this new partnership, Jamie Weiner, Director of Disability Services and the JFS Houston Alexander Institute for Inclusion, referenced a quote from Andy Warhol: “Everything has its beauty, but not everyone don’t see her.”
The partnership with Village Medical is also an act of advocacy. By purchasing the artwork for display in their clinics, Village Medical is making a statement to its employees, patients, stakeholders and suppliers – that enabling people with disabilities to know their value, see their value and the contributions they bring to our company is a value they hold in high esteem. They advocate that the artists themselves be seen as much as the art they have created.
Along with the artwork and accompanying artist biography, a QR code is displayed for anyone to scan and learn more about the artist, especially to see the artist as a multifaceted person, not as a disability. These additional layers align precisely with the JFS Houston Alexander Institute’s goal for inclusion: “We seek to reduce stigma and increase access for people with disabilities in the workplace, places of worship, and community organizations through direct service, education, advocacy and the arts. , which is the most multi-layered path to a deep connection.
Celebration Company representatives thanked Village Medical for not only recognizing the beauty of the art and photography, but also for recognizing the beauty of the artists themselves.
