Loan App recovery agent arrested for female suicide
Police in Visakhapatnam town on Monday arrested a loan collector for playing a key role in the reported suicide of 25-year-old Mandava Ahalada from Gajuwaka.
The arrest was identified as Goutham Mule, based in Pune, working as a loan collector for a loan collection company in Koregaon Park, Pune. Police said the loan collection company worked for a private bank in Pune, Maharashtra. Police also established the role of three other people – Parasuram Lahu, Liang Tiantian and HR Hakib Sheik – in connection with the woman’s alleged suicide.
DCP (Crime) V Suresh Babu said Mandava Ahalada ended his life on November 3, 2020, unable to endure the allegations of harassment, mental agony and humiliation for non-payment of instant loans obtained through online applications.
Based on the complaint filed by Ahalada’s mother, Usha Rani, the police in Gajuwaka registered a case under Article 306 of the IPC (incitement to suicide) and forwarded the case to the central police station. for investigation.
Family members told police the deceased was depressed due to alleged harassment and pressure from loan collectors. Loan collectors repeatedly sent her voice messages and humiliating messages.
The investigation also found that the deceased had repaid more than 80% of the loan amount with interest. However, she was reportedly depressed as she regularly received calls from them.
