Francis Ford Coppola had the idea of making a film called Megalopolis decades ago, but fittingly enough for a legendary career punctuated by huge setbacks, he’s often been stuck. However, it looks like Coppola is finally moving forward with his magnum opus. According to our trusted and proven sources, Shia LaBeouf is currently in talks to play the lead role in Megalopolis accompanied by an incredible cast of actors. It seems that Francis Ford Coppola can finally direct the film which, more than any other, has fascinated him for years.
Shia LaBeouf joins the cast of Megalopolis which includes Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The last duel), Forest Whittaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai), Nathalie Emmanuel (game of thrones and Four weddings and a funeral), Jon Voight (who previously worked with Francis Ford Coppola in the legal thriller The rainmaker) and Laurence Fishburne, who held one of his first roles in Coppola’s Revelation now. It is currently unknown what role Shia LaBeouf will play in Megalopolisother than that would be a track.
In addition to those listed above and the potential inclusion of Shia LaBeouf, many intriguing actors are said to have joined. Megalopolis. Another Star Wars player, Oscar Isaac, Spider-Man: No Coming Homeit’s Zendaya, Return of Batman star Michelle Pfeiffer, Parks and recreationof Aubrey Plaza, nephew of Coppola and Rushmore Star Jason Schwartzmann and perpetual Oscar nominee Cate Blanchett have all been attached to the film at some point. However, given that the film took decades to get this far, it’s understandable that it takes a little longer to be completely clear.
Shia LaBeouf quit acting after a number of personal issues, which could make Megalopolis one of his first feature film roles in years. In the meantime, Shia LaBeouf has taken time off to reflect and grow, but is looking forward to getting back into acting. In addition to being in talks for Francis Ford Coppola’s passion project, Shia LaBeouf will star in Father Pio. The photo directed by Abel Ferrara is a biopic of the famous and controversial Italian monk Padre Pio (born Francesco Forgione). Padre Pio has shown signs of stigmata (the phenomenon of spontaneous manifestations of wounds similar to those legendaryly attributed to Jesus Christ at the crucifixion) and has been investigated by the Vatican and others for them, finally dying without concrete explanation in 1968.
The film Megalopolis has been described as chronicling attempts to rebuild a city (sometimes called New York or something similar) after a massive disaster. Francis Ford Coppola described it as his most ambitious film, incorporating themes of the fall of ancient Rome, utopianism, political ambition, and doomed love. Coppola is financing the film himself and despite decades of slow development, seems to be quickly gathering talents like Adam Driver, Laurence Fishburne and Shia LaBeouf to star in Megalopolis.
